The goal of the Ministry Formation Program is to train Catholic Deaf adults who wish to serve the Church as active lay ministers.
The four-year training program begins in September and concludes in May. Each weekend runs from Friday evening through Sunday noon.
The Ministry Formation Program sessions take place in the Chicago area. It is open to applicants in neighboring states that do not have a training program for Catholic Deaf adults.
The instructors are professionals who understand deaf culture and who posses skills in communication and sign language.

Year IV: Internship (3 weekends and field work required) |
A certificate of completion will be presented at the end of the entire training program.
The certificate of completion of the four-year ministry program will enable candidates to work in any of the following ministries:
Adult Education
Bible Study
Care Ministry
Evangelization
Family Ministry
Liturgical Ministry
Prayer Groups
RCIDA
Religious Education
Sacramental Preparations
Social Service Ministry
Youth Ministry
and many more!
The applicant should:
be between 18 and 65 years old
be a practicing Catholic member
commit oneself to class attendance during the four-year program
be actively involved in church functions during the program
have a mentor from one's own church community
try to attend local and/or national workshops related to Catholic Deaf ministry
If the applicant is accepted, the applicant is expected to:
submit application form
send a letter of recommendation from a local pastoral worker or a diocesan agent
obtain an interview with a member of the Deaf ministry training program committee
